Here is an important lesson: Check and double check for typos, grammar and that you have the correct domain name on the back of the game’s box cover, before printing it and sending out to retailers.

The back cover of the Nintendo GameCube and Sony PS2 “Killer 7″ game is suppose to point gamers to the game’s website Killer-7.com. However, somehow, someone, seems to have missed the hyphen in the name. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the domain which it now points to is not exactly a family friendly site. (Check at your own risk – NSFW)

No PS3 or Wii Pre-Orders from Best Buy

It has been confirmed that Best Buy will not be offering pre-orders for the Sony PS3 or the Nintendo Wii.

Best Buy confirmed this week that they will not be taking pre-orders for the PlayStation 3 or the Wii. A company spokesman told me earlier this week that Best Buy has decided they would rather just sell both consoles on launch day because it’s more exciting that way. The Best Buy spokesman added he could not tell me how many of either console they would be receiving for launch day.

With this news and GameStop/EB selling out of PS3 pre-orders nation wide in just hours, it looks like there will be high demand for camping gear this November.

No Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3 Pre-Orders from GameStop?

If you want to get your hands on a Nintendo Wii or a Sony PS3 you might have to start thinking about camping out overnight at your local electronics and gaming hardware retailer. It seems that GameStop which owns EB Games and Babbages, is considering not offering pre-sales for the PS3 and the Wii, after what happened with shipping shortages with last years release of the XBOX 360.

While some sources have said that pre-orders are going to start on October 10th, others have said that it will be up to each individual GameStop retailer whether to take pre-orders or not.

The PS3 hits store shelves on Nov. 17, and Sony has promised between 1 million and 1.2 million PS3s in the U.S. by the end of the year.

The Nintendo Wii follows two days later and is expected to be in greater supply than the PS3.

But sellouts of both consoles this year are virtually guaranteed.

As a result, GameStop has not yet decided when, or even if, it will offer pre-orders for the new systems.

Everyone loves the Mac vs PC ads that took television by storm. Those ads, where the Mac looks far superior than the dull PC, have caused a lot of conversation and debate. Either way, it is tough to argue that the ads were not successful. Anything that catches the public’s eye and entices conversation is a winner. Well G4 has a similar type ad involving the PS3 and Wii:

SONY BMG launches Free Music Video streaming service

A new service called Musicbox Video was launched from Sony BMG, which streams Music Videos, artist interviews, and live performances. The videos will be streamed on the website with a flash-based player that utilizes technology provided by Brightcove, which will handle advertising for the service.

This move by Sony BMG comes after a huge growth of music videos appearing on sites like YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo! Video and AOL Video.

The Musicbox Video service, just like its rivals, will allow users to share their favotire videos, as well as post them on their website via an embedded flash-based players.

No a big innovation here, it looks like music labels are just now starting to do what should have been done a year or two ago.

The Sony Vending Machine

Sony is introducing their own electronics and media vending machines in three malls this week. These machines will dispense electronics such as Sony PSPs, memory cards, headphones, etc, and media such as UMDs, DVDs and CDs. Currently the test locations are located in Atlanta; Boulder, Colo.; and Santa Rosa, Calif.

These robotic stores will come in two flavors; a 4-foot version, and an 8-foot version. Both will be equipped with a color touch screen, which will display product information, specifications, as well as movie trailers and music videos. Purchases will be made by swiping a credit or debit card. Cash will be not accepted at these machines.

Once a purchase is made, a robotic arm will locate and retrieve the item, and sensors will ensure that item is properly dispensed. The purchase information is updated over the internet, and sent to a fulfillment center for analysis and rapid product replenishment.

Sony hopes to have 10 of these robotic stores installed in malls, airports and grocery stores by the end of the year.

Sony PS3 controller spelling error

Kotaku wrote about a spelling error found on the new Sony PS3 controller, while it was being showcased at Sony’s Ginza showroom.

It appears that instead of “SELECT”, the button is actually labeled “SERECT”.

Oops! You probably want to double check little things like that before showcasing your upcoming gaming console. There are more pics over at Kotaku. – Photoshop or not, you be the judge.
