GameStop is still harassing you with unsolicited calls - Halo 3 edition
September 14, 2007 on 1:07 pm | In call, gamestop, harassing, stop it, voicemail | 1 CommentA while back I posted a voicemail of an unsolicited call I got from GameStop. This morning I got another one. This time they want me to trade in games, and they also talk about Halo 3.
Once again, I never signed up or gave GameStop permission to call me about anything. In fact, after last time I called up my local store and asked that I never be contacted via phone again. It’s a good feeling knowing that GameStop respects the privacy of the customer.
Gamestop unsolicited voicemail messages asking for used Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii
February 19, 2007 on 12:17 pm | In gamestop, nintendo, wii, zelda | 15 CommentsGamestop wants to buy your used games. They want them bad. Now they have started calling customers who have placed pre-orders asking to buy the game back. These messages are unsolicited, and should not be allowed. Isn’t it bad enough that every time you walk into their stores they bother you about pre-orders and buying your used games? Now they will call you at home too. In this voicemail they call us and ask to buy back our copy of Twilight Princess for the Nintendo Wii.
Here is the audio, click play to listen to the voicemail:

October 13, 2006 on 12:07 pm | In eb games, gamestop, nintendo, pre order, wii | 2 CommentsSome people started lining up as early as 9PM last night. Accord to reports, the Nintendo Wii per-order turnout has been bigger than that of the Sony PS3. People are reporting crowds of as many as 40-50 people lining up and waiting for GameStop and EB Games to open their doors and announce how many systems they have available for pre-order. Some stores had as little as 8, while others up to 36.

No Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3 Pre-Orders from GameStop?
October 2, 2006 on 3:44 pm | In gamestop, nintendo, pre order, ps3, sony, wii | No CommentsIf you want to get your hands on a Nintendo Wii or a Sony PS3 you might have to start thinking about camping out overnight at your local electronics and gaming hardware retailer. It seems that GameStop which owns EB Games and Babbages, is considering not offering pre-sales for the PS3 and the Wii, after what happened with shipping shortages with last years release of the XBOX 360.
While some sources have said that pre-orders are going to start on October 10th, others have said that it will be up to each individual GameStop retailer whether to take pre-orders or not.
The PS3 hits store shelves on Nov. 17, and Sony has promised between 1 million and 1.2 million PS3s in the U.S. by the end of the year.
The Nintendo Wii follows two days later and is expected to be in greater supply than the PS3.
But sellouts of both consoles this year are virtually guaranteed.
As a result, GameStop has not yet decided when, or even if, it will offer pre-orders for the new systems.

GameStop Nintendo Wii Pre-Order details
September 21, 2006 on 10:19 pm | In gamestop, nintendo, wii preorders | No CommentsKotaku has posted a tip from a reader about some details on the Nintendo Wii pre-order situation.
Although they aren’t starting them now, here’s the information I’ve got so far. (At least pertaining to my local store, located in Morgantown, WV.)
1. They aren’t taking Wii pre-orders YET, but ARE taking pre-orders for Wii launch games (IE Zelda:Twilight Princess). That’s $5 minimum down.
2. IF you pre-order a Wii game, you will recieve an automated call they day that they will start taking Wii pre-orders.
3. Wii pre-orders will not be delegated by the bundle you buy, but rather a “first come, first serve” basis.
4. Wii pre-orders are $50, and this does NOT have to be in trade-in credit.
5. If you trade in any old games/DVDs towards your Wii, you will get an additional 30% credit.

iBloggedThis can confirm that at least in NJ various GameStop stores which we have called or visited, have said that they are not going to be calling anyone, even if they have pre-ordered a game, to notify them when pre-orders for the Nintendo Wii Console begin.
