Walmart cancels Super Smash Bros. Brawl Wii orders; Claims requests for cancellation were made by customers

January 12, 2008 on 12:18 am | In pre order, ssbb, walmart, wii |

After reading on Kotaku that Super Smash Bros. Brawl Wii was available for pre-order from Walmart for $19.82, I quickly jumped on the site and placed my pre-order.

I, along with a few other people who also ordered this morning, just received the following email from Walmart:

Hey Walmart, wtf? I can definitely understand that you probably made a huge pricing error and don’t want to ship out these games for under $20, but it really pisses me off that you are not owning up to your mistake. Sending customers an email indicating they have requested to cancel their order is bullshit — WHY would anyone want to cancel their $20 SSBB order?

This isn’t going to fly to well, how about an apology?

  1. I was prepared for the cancellation to happen. On that, I wasn’t really surprised. But I got the same B.S. saying I requested the cancellation. Total effin screw up on their part, why blame the customer? I hope they get some seriously bad P.R. because of this. That’s just rude!

  2. thanks for posting this. i knew i didn’t request to cancel my order this morning, yet their lame cancellation email made me question my own sanity. i’m glad to see i’m not alone. i’m also glad to see i’m not the only one pissed off that they wouldn’t just take a little bit of a loss instead of pissing off so many people unnecessarily. but that’s wally world for ya.

  4. the same shit happened to me, the number they give you is not correct to call them with questions about the order. you call and it asks you to enter a PIN… i dont understand how they are not owning up to their mistake. if they fucked up in the store, would they hunt us down and make us return the product we bought for the wrong price?

  5. Bastards!
They did the same thing to me.
That has to be some sort of e-mail fraud, etc…

  7. Did you ask them about their Scanning Code of Practice policy. It states that if they, or the computer states the price is such and such that that is what their costumers pay.

I would print this off that cancellation and bring it to them when you do go and purchase the game, their policy clearly states that “if thats what we say it costs then thats what it costs” and when they ask you about the printed e-mail then you ask them about this policy.

  8. To continue on with what I said. I once went to Wal-Mart and I bought my Boyfriend the Simpson DVD’s.
They were suppose to be 24$ or something like that, the computer rang them in for 24$ however the shelf and the box clearly stated that they were 9$. I didn’t think much on it and that it was a pricing problem, but when my Boyfriend looked infront of the casheir there on the table was their Scanning Code of Practice. The moment he even stated those four words the cashier cleared up the mess and I got them for 9$ . Just state those four words to them and everything should be cleared up.

Mind you now, the game isn’t comming out now until March 9th but that gives you plenty of time to clear up the mess.
