I had the same problem. The day that I started having the problem, I took the MacBook in for repair. Seven days later, the Apple still has my MacBook and support status is indicating that its in repair.

I'd recommend taking your MacBook in for repair ASAP.

Additionally, on Sep 01, 06, I had taken my MacBook in for repairs because the display was flicking like a strobe light. I'm not sure if this was or is part of the same problem.

Hate to tell you this, but you may be experiencing the beginning of random macbooks shutdowns. Send your macbook into AppleCare for repair immediately.

eff you

I had the same problem, It happened five days ago. It first started with the unable to find the hard drive (flashing folder with the question mark) and then turned into the vertical colorful lines. It sucks, I lost all my data on my hard drive, even though I back up regularly I haven’t done so in about a month. BTW, mine did not get fixed with the simple PMU reseting.

this happened to me too....WELL before the airport update. i just think you had some really good timing. apple repaired the machine almost a month ago and there hasn't been ANY problems at all. i love my macbook. it's really a good deal. other than pro care, i think it's the best deal apple has going.

my advice, call applecare or bring it to a store.

good luck.
