Hasta La Vista, Vista (Picture)

Apple wants to make sure that everyone knows how great Leopard is going to be, and how horrible Vista is going to be. Well a nice bold statement was made by Apple today, and this picture is worth a thousand words. Hasta La Vista, Vista:

  1. Please explain for those who don’t know Spanish and don’t quite get it.

  2. “hasta la vista [Spanish bye, until I see you]”

It was a famous quote from Terminator. Basically Apple is saying they are blowing away the competition. Microsofts new thing is “Vista”. Its a pun.

  3. Meh. Does Quicktime Pro cost more than PlayStation 3 yet?

  4. Forget Spanish, it’s a Terminator reference.

    Comment by Ford — August 7, 2006 #

  5. You shouldn’t need to know spanish to get it. Hasta la vista is the famed line in the Terminator films. Used literally, it’s means “see you.” In popular culture, it’s meant as a final phrase uttered after an opponent is defeated. The use of this phrase here is clever because Vista is Window’s new OS. So they are saying, with the advent of leopard, we can say good bye to Vista, before Vista even comes out.

  6. Hasta La Vista means “good bye” in Spanish with Windows’s Vista as a pun.

  7. You don’t have to know Spanish, you just have to have seen Terminator 2. That was Arnie’s catch phrase: “Hasta la vista, baby” that he said right before shooting the bad guy.

Personally I think it’s hilarious how Apple adverts are never just about how good their products are. They just force down your throat that they think PCs suck.

Watch your TV for a day and count all of the PC ads. Out of those, count how many even MENTION Apples, let alone trying to belittle them. Out of all of the HP/Dell/Toshiba/Sony/Gateway ads I see, none of them rip on Apples.

    It’s kinda immature, really.

  8. Indeed- and who have not heared of good ol’ Arnie.

    …wait, are You serious?

Anyway, haven’t had such a laugh in quite some time.

  14. Nice! Good wordplay! But Rob, are you really serious that U don’t know the meaning of the catch phrase ‘Hasta la Vista’? Comes in Terminator 2 with Arnie saying, ‘Hasta la vista, baby!’

  15. Apple se ensaña con Windows Vista…

No se si es un fake. Pero en el caso de que la foto no este trucada, podemos deducir claramente como Apple le ha declarado la guerra abierta a Microsoft y a su Windows Vista. Hasta la Vista, Vista!!!!…

  16. Did you know…

that in Spain, The Terminator’s “Hasta la vista, baby” was translated as “Sajonara, baby” (Bye-bye in japanese)?

    Hugs from Spain!

  17. “Hasta la vista” is a Terminator 2 quote and means “See ya”… Literally means:

See ya, Vista! or Bye, bye… Vista ;)

  18. In the Terminator film, dubbed in spanish, “Hasta la vista” was substituted with “Sayonara, baby”.
