Eons - Myspace for the elderly

August 1, 2006 on 10:57 am | In Eons, myspace |

Eons.com is a social network that is very comparable to Myspace. While the two sites are similar, I wouldn’t say they are competition for one another. While Myspace targets the youth of our world, Eons targets the elderly. 61% of the members are between the ages of 49 and 59 years old.

Eons is a company inspiring a generation of boomers and elders to live the biggest life possible. Set goals, celebrate life, get things done, learn, connect with other people 50+.

All great features, but those don’t compare to the “death alerts” feature. That’s right, when one of your buddies dies, you will receive a friendly notification so you can send your condolences on their “wall” or “comments.”

Neat.

  1. this site is not a myspace for boomers.

only the press is trying to make it that way.

in all of the interview you won’t hear jeff taylor or any of the reps saying they are trying to be a myspace, nor looking toward myspace for ideas whatsoever. myspace type stuff does not appeal to the boomer generation

  2. I am still 7 years from eligibility but I am conflicted about eons. I think eons can serve a real need, but how many Boomers will want to go to a site that reminds us of our age? It should be no surprise then that marketing to the 50-plus crowd has proven difficult.
