Zoom Lens for Nokia mobile camera phones

Mad4MobilePhones has the scoop on a zoom lens by a company based out of Hong Kong called Brando, which can be attached to certain Nokia mobile camera phones.
The lens attaches to the existing camera with a special battery casing, which comes in the kit. The user simply replaces their existing battery casing, attaches the 6x Zoom Lens, and is ready to take great shots.
The whole kit(lens, battery casing and strap) costs $19. You probably shouldn’t expect phenomenal picture quality from it, as a lens is only as good as the camera that it attaches to. Still, at under $20 you probably can’t go wrong.

This is absolutely daft! Why would you want to carry a zooming lens and walk in the street. If you are interested in taking pictures, you might as well get a real camera instead.

[...] Oh man, if timing isn’t everything. Just a day after my rant on phone cameras, I just caught this on digg. Brando is releasing a 6x optical zoom attachment for Nokia phones. But, come on, who’s going to use this? This is like zoomed fuzzy pictures. Cripes. [...]

Amazing… I was wondering if it would work for the 6230 phone (my model) and that’s the exact on in the picture!
Yeah, the one knock on camera phones is that they have DIGITAL zoom and not OPTICAL zoom.
The digital zoom is what caused the pixelation, etc. Optical would be tremendous, and it looks like that’s exactly what they’re trying to do here.

I really dont mind having this gadget. It sure doesn’t explode the pixels since it’s optical zoom and not digital. Have a look at the screenshots… pretty neat :)

WOW!
Assuming you can DL from these phones, you could use one WITHOUT SERVICE and get a usable digatal camera for CHEAP.

The zoomed shot is quite acceptable for my purposes!
Does anyone know how many images the phone stores? Can it use memory cards to hold more?
